Sunday 4 March 2007

The BIG DIRTY wasn't as big or as dirty as I'd hoped - but it was still pretty big...and dirty.

Well, I made it back home.
Screw it. Sooooooooo sleepy and tired - going to bed.
I'll try to write more tomorrow.
Have patience.
Many things happened.

Saturday 3 March 2007

Time to begin

It's 8:20.
I woke at 8.
I slept from around 6.
I'm tired.
Very tired.
I'm going to pack then leave.
The BIG DIRTY is about to happen.

Route is planned out. Now to get some sleep.

Here`s the route:

They're all in Chiba. It will take me about 70minutes to get there.
I just have to wake up early (easier said than done).
Gonna try and wake up at 7:30.
It is now 3:20am.

Whoops.

Great start.

Still have some preperations to do:
  • preperation A - organise and print out my maps
  • preperation B - wash the dishes in the sink
  • preperation C - make the sandwiches for tomorrow
  • preperation D - make sure the camera has memory and a fully charged battery
  • preperation E - charge up my mp3 player and fill it with some excellent music
  • preperation F - get my bike ready and the plastic cover for taking it on the train
  • preperation g - get my big backpack ready and double check all preperations
  • preperation H - apply liberally

It's gonna be good. I can feel it (or is that the preperation H?).
Just hope I dont get stopped by the cops again.
It'll be my eleventh time if I do.

Stay tuned for updates when I get back in one piece and fully loaded with loads of bargains.

The Big Dirty (Hard -offs)

It's on.

Tomorrow morning, I'm gonna try and hit as many Hard-offs in the Chiba area as I can.
I have one day to do it in.
These places open from 10am and close at 8pm.
It's not going to be easy.
I've never been to them before and the maps from the websites are not always accurate or drawn to scale.
I've gotten myself lost on many an occasion.
I'm bringing the silver flame, my trusty folding bicycle and also lots of tuna and mayonnaise sandwiches.

Hopefully it's not going to rain.

This is it - the big dirty.

Dave and I have talked about this for some time and attempted to pull it off several times but always backed out.

(Will the team be able to pull it off?)

Well, this time I've built up enough credulance to go and do it.
Hope to do it as a team, but if dear old Dave can't make it, the plan is going ahead.
Will do it alone i f I have to but I have to do it this weekend.
Tomorrow is the last chance for me.
Hopefully I will see my digital cameras on my travels (they got stolen on a train to Chiba over a month ago - boohoo!).

Right now, I'm working on the plan of attack.
It's gonna involve the JR Chuo Sobu line, a 2300yen JR rail pass and lots and lots of maps.

More info on target locations and maps, etc soon.

Keep checking this space...
